I grew up with limited resources in a big city and a small town in Chicago called Humboldt Park.

As a half Mexican and Puerto Rican individual, I faced challenges, but I learned about my culture and native plants over time.

My grandma showed me that plants are valuable, which I initially thought was crazy, but later realized was true. Plants are crucial for survival and need our help to adapt. With my knowledge of plant care, I aim to share it and create a society where we can grow and thrive together.

Kevin Velazquez established Royal Plant Care in June 2023, building upon Skyler’s Aviary, founded in January 2019. Initially, the business focused on birds and fruit trees, including Finches, Cockatiel, Parakeets, Conures, Cherry, Apple, Peach, Pears, and Fig trees. The pandemic led to a relocation from Michigan to Chicago, where Velazquez collaborated with Cerámica, resulting in the formation of Royal Plant Care.

The business expanded to offer baby plants, ceramics, and art pieces, gaining popularity through farmers’ markets and pop-up events. This success enabled the opening of the first local business, marking Royal Plant Care as the pioneering Cultural nursery, offering a diverse range of plants, artesanales, and art, with plans for future expansion.
